Summer Program in Rome, Italy
Summer Session 2: June 1-30

Iona in Rome offers students an opportunity to spend a month in the Eternal City, with excursions to nearby areas of interest. Students from Iona (and other institutions) select up to two courses from an array of five, in Business, Literature, Fine Arts, History, Religious Studies, and Italian.
  • BUS 410 RO - The Role of Business in Contemporary American Society
  • CDS 1198 - Rome in Art and Literature (counts toward credit for ENG or FPA)
  • HST 491 RO - History and Culture of Italy
  • RST 425 RO - The Roots of Christianity
  • ITA 103 RO - Elementary Italian

Courses are taught by Iona faculty members who travel to Rome with the students or by faculty based in Rome.

Students receive a total of up to 6 credits while studying and exploring the beautiful city of Rome. Classes are taught Monday through Thursday allowing students the opportunity to travel independently on the weekends.

Students reside in attractive facilities in Rome and participate in excursions to museums, monuments, churches, and other noteworthy sites including the Roman Forum, Pantheon, Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, Circo Massimo, Colosseo, Villa Borghese (Borghese Gallery), Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica and Cupola, etc.


In order to participate any study abroad program, students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the time of departure. Students under any active form of academic or disciplinary probation at the time of departure will not be permitted to participate in the program.
